J.D. IRVING, LIMITED'S CLAIR VALUE-ADDED CELEBRATES 25 YEARS IN BUSINESS

J.D. Irving, Limited Clair Value-Added is commemorating 25 years of service in Clair, northern New Brunswick.

Since the acquisition of Begin Lumber in 1999, the Clair facility has adapted its operations to meet the needs of customers and to provide forest products in a changing environment and climate. Initially focused on sawmill operations, cut-to-size and grading, following the sawmill's closure, the Clair facility reassessed its operations and enhanced its offerings to include cedar fence building. Today, it specializes in grading and drying SPF lumber and producing shim packs commonly used in carpentry.

The Clair team is now almost 50 members strong, made up of members from the surrounding local communities. During a recent anniversary celebration, the dedicated team set a new production record of 1,750 shim packs per hour (averaged over an 11-hour shift). Just a week later, they surpassed this achievement by producing 1,780 shim packs per hour, demonstrating the value of continuous improvement to meet customer needs.
