Eastern White Cedar Shingles

J.D.Irving, Limited – Eastern White Cedar Shingles are a genuine wood product and come in 5 different grades.

Eastern White Cedar Shingles have been a preferred siding application in New England and Atlantic Canada for over a century. Left natural to weather to a silver grey they provide warmth and charm to your project, while being durable against various weather elements.  They can be stained or painted to for the desired look to your finished project.

Extra - Grade ‘A’ R+R - Eco Bleach – treated with a low VOC acrylic bleaching agent to assist in expediting the natural weathering process. Re-butted and Re-squared for easier and faster installation. 100% clear exposed face and consistent color. These can be used for siding and roofing applications (roofing requires minimum double course layer.) Must allow 6-12 months before using a high quality acrylic based paint to cover acrylic bleaching stain. Not recommended that a semi-transparent or solid stain be used over the bleaching agent.

Extra - Grade ‘A’ R+R -Re-butted and Re-squared for easier and faster installation. 100% clear exposed face and consistent color. These can be used for siding and roofing applications (roofing requires minimum double course layer)

Clear – Grade ‘B’ - Minimal small tight knots with consistency of color. These can be used for siding and roofing applications (roofing requires minimum double course layer only)

2nd Clear – Grade ‘C’- Knots and color variation on exposed half. These can be used for siding applications. Not recommended for roofing applications.

Utility- Grade ‘D’ - 12.5sqft coverage per bundle at 5 inch exposure, recommended for under-course and small projects only. Not intended for quality final finish siding application. Not for roofing applications.

  • All siding and roofing applications must be installed per manufactures installation guidelines – with proper air barriers behind – Cedar Breather or Tyvek -  as well as minimum 1/8” space between each shingle to allow for natural expansion and contraction - to avoid issues and not void warranty.
  • Coverage for Grade A – C is 25sqft per bundle at maximum 5 inch exposure
  • Coverage for Grade D is only12.5 sqft per bundle at maximum 5 inch exposure
